- Coral Reefs and Climate Change (ocean acidification and warming): using a range of experimental approaches including aquarium, mesocosm and in situ studies to determine the future impacts of increasing carbon dioxide levels from molecular to ecosystem levels.
- Computer Vision Coral Ecology: using computer vision methods to automate the analysis of underwater photographs of coral reefs for rapid, large scale surveys of coral coverage and health.
- Coral Reef Ecology and Coral Diseases: studying the link between local and global human impacts on coral disease transmission and coral reef health.
- Cellular physiological mechanisms for coral calcification and photosynthesis- Extending Lab Based Models to the Field: In a collaboration with Martin Tresguerres we are using immunological techniques to study coral responses to environmental conditions, and to test in nature the relevance of mechanistic models obtained from laboratory experiments.
